I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My primary subfield is International Relations, with a minor in Political Methodology. I received my B.A. in Social and Political Sciences from Sabanci University, Istanbul-Turkey and my M.A. in Political Science from UNC- Chapel Hill. I expect to finish my Ph.D. in the spring of 2018.
My research examines the processes connecting foreign policy to international economics, with a particular emphasis on economic sanctions. I specifically explore the onset, consequences, enforcement, effectiveness and removal of sanctions. In my work, I combine formal modeling with careful research designs and quantitative analysis.
